WHAT: Help us welcome Chris Cottrell, "Partner and Consigliere" for Bedrock Wine Company, to our tasting bar.
As diehard fans of old-school California Zinfandel and "field blends, Bedrock Wine Co. is a longtime store-favorite! These folks have been/are today among the leading advocates for preserving and celebrating the gnarly-old so-called Heritage Vineyards of northern California. These are vineyards that were actually around during The Spanish-American War, WWI and the Great Depression. And it's only because of wineries like Bedrock (and Carol Shelton) that these American 'Grand Cru' legends are still with us. Many others have been replanted to other grapes, at best, or grubbed up for development, at worst. 100-150 years of agricultural and American winemaking history erased with a backhoe? Not on Bedrock's watch.

WHAT: In 2012, our wine club helped introduce Andrew Jones' Field Recordings Wine to the Kansas market. When first sampled his wines, we were notably impressed. But aside from making great wine, Andrew's CV was also compelling--his day job was/is as a viticultural specialist for the leading vineyard nursery in CA, while is "other" job was/is making wine from many of the same vineyards he helped plan and plant. Clearly, Andrew knew then that wine is made in the vineyard and this belief has become the keystone of his project.
Join us in welcoming Andrew and his wines (including some new releases) to Lawrence.
